I meant more the midi structures and sounds Robin. I somehow feel he
might have had the parts for years (even if not actually 30 years!) and
maybe even recorded them, but that when the chance to do another LP came
along, the decision was made to re-record things so that it fitted into
our quantising-obsessed times!
Fair enough. I guess I was addressing Kent's original point.
I think the 'looseness' of a lot of old disco and italo (real drummers
mainly, even when the drums are electronic) is what I love. Even when I
play off the laptop with Live I'm very careful not to warp the feel out
of things. I avoid "temponized" style edits for this reason. I guess
those are for people using turntables.
