the dave clarke, as in The Red Series used to
run a label called Magnetic North which released tracks
by himself, Christian Vogel, Russ Gabriel etc.
He also used to work in a record shop called Jelly Jam
in Brighton, the shop being owned by one Luke Slater
(who also used to work in there).
It was my local for a few years before it shut down,
and was probably the best record shop in the world ever.
I was in there when the Euromasters release 'Alles Naar De Kloten'
(which i think translates to 'everything is bollocks') hit the
shops. This was the first record i heard from the much vaunted 'Gabba' style
of contemporary composition. Dave Clarke couldn't believe what he was
hearing and put a copy aside for himself.
I wonder if he ever plays it out.......
