Chessie was an unexpected surprise, playing some extremely deep, atmospheric indie rock (if that makes sense) - kinda reminded me of earlier Seefeel. The earlier reviews of Kit Clayton's set were right on; very dubby and experimental, and the crowd actually responded well, which was very surprising. Iowa City was treated to a phenomenal live set from Stewart Walker back in September and he mentioned all the material for this performance would be new, so I was extremely excited. However, the whole set was very steady and (dare I say) accessible? I can't really say I was disappointed with it, but it wasn't at all what I was expecting. The production was top notch as usual, but the beat steadied after a while. I still loved at least half the set though. Another strange thing about the Iowa City show is that they were up late the night before, this being their third night performing in a row and Stewart opted to play second, with Kit Clayton going last.
