And then throughout the mid 70s and late 70s, as the majority of musicians
from the JBs (Fred Wesley, Maceo Parker, Bootsy Collins) fell under George
Clinton's direction and become Parliament/Funkadelic. When Bernie Worrell
was thrown in with them, P-Funk was created. Eventually P-Funk got into that
elevator with Kraftwerk, and begat techno... so the development from James
Brown through to Detroit techno was carried out, in no small part, by those
musicians.

I'd also back up the recommendation of Maceo Parker's album, "Us", even if
only for the stunning track "Soul of a Black Man". But all in all I
generally prefer the George Clinton years to the James Brown years...
