well, the best of my hopes is that they were balancing
responsibilities of how much booking costs are, who is available and
willing, and if agents are requiring bundling. the best of my hopes is
that they were constrained by business reality. maybe they just want
to advance themselves in financial concerns and build relationships
regardless of musical mission or core preferences, since people will
keep coming to detroit. last year the festival itself was miserable in
some of the regards of minimal bookings, while brilliant in the case
of a few.
