I'm procedurally generating 4D Write documents which include diamond-shaped .png graphics from a gov't source (1017x1017 pts).
I tried using both TRANSFORM PICTURE and the CREATE THUMBNAIL command to reduce them to 48x48 pts. The most crisp "size" reduction within 4D Write seemed to be with TRANSFORM PICTURE. This is on v14 Windows. Printed directly from 4D Write to a laser printer, the diamonds look fine. But when I save 4D Write (from the wp area on a data entry form) to a Word .doc file, and then open the doc in Word, the diamonds look bad -- fuzzy, dotty, with noise, etc. Happens with Mac or Win Word. Obtaining the original graphics as jpegs or gifs didn't seem to matter. I tried placing the full-sized, png diamonds in (Mac) Word, reducing them, and then copying-and-pasting to the 4D Write document; then saving to and re-opening in Word. Looks terrible. What's kind of weird: The document has some other, round graphics (480x480 jpegs, reduced to 48x48 in the same manner) which look fine when exported to, and reopened in Word. The customers want to perform their final edits/adjustments in (Windows) Word rather than 4D Write. Anybody know how to preserve graphic quality?
