If you have a machine running 10.11.x, you might get away with starting the new 
machine in target disk mode, downloading the 10.11.x installer from Apple 
again, and installing it on the target disk. I did this last night on a machine 
that had been 10.6.8, and bricked trying to force 10.12. Worked well.
