The bug with the numeric format (1) is fixed in a recent v16. In regard to 2) there is a workaround: in the upper left corner of the query editor there's a menu. One of the menu entries is ~ "Reset". Clicking this entry resets the query editor, so one can continue to query without closing the process or restarting the client.
