Jeremy: 4D's dot releases are bug fixes; R releases have features and bug fixes. This link <http://www.4d.com/products/r-release.html> where it reads "Instead of developing and distributing major releases with a large set of features every 18-24 months (as is usually done for large software projects), we have split the feature set into smaller parts, releasing 3-4 new versions each year."
Insofar as waiting for a list box fix, that's the nature of using any of 4D's feature. The fact that ITK and NTK exist as products indicates that there's a market for a product where 4D Internet Commands isn't satisfactory. It's the same with AreaList Pro - list boxes do not generate revenue for 4D so 4D will tend to not fix bugs and will tend to not add features. I'm not knocking list boxes, they do some pretty cool things, but there is an inexpensive alternative that has a huge feature set and is backed by a company whose bottom line depends on their ability satisfy customer demand. Over the years some of the feature requests and/or bug fixes that I've submitted have resulted in the release of a new version within 24 hours. In contrast, there are many emails here on the NUG where folks are running into bugs that go unresolved. There *is* an inexpensive, well-supported alternative <http://www.e-node.net/redir/EN/produit_id_20/AreaList-Pro.html> . -- Douglas von Roeder 949-336-2902 On Sun, Jan 21, 2018 at 9:34 AM, Jeremy Roussak via 4D_Tech < [email protected]> wrote: > Is there a timetable for new features in R releases to be added to public > releases? > > There’s a new command (LISTBOX SET PROPERTY) that I’ve been anticipating > for years; it was introduced in v16R2, apparently, but isn’t in v16.3 > > I’m not a partner and don’t get R releases, which I accept means I’ll have > to wait.
