It is best to either close the application and make a copy... or back it up and take a backup. When you copy it while it is running, more times than not it will be corrupted. Sometimes corruption will be OK depending on your use for the copy, but don't rely on it for a valid backup unless you use a backup or a copy when the database was not running.
