If this were my install, with a different kernel, I would be thinking that I had lost 64studio before I started the upgrade. A reinstall would be the first thing that came to mind. First I would disable all sources except etch and lenny. # apt-get remove --purge exim4 exim4-base exim4-config exim4-daemon-light mailx mutt Then try to recover my desktop with # apt-get update # apt-get install gnome > From Free's howto /etc/security/limits.conf /etc/gdm/gdm.conf /etc/xdg/menu/gnome-applications.menu you will be asked wether to keep them or replace them with a newer version.
