No, I booted into the other kernel, 64 Studio 2.1rc has been fine before
the upgrade.

Okay, while you have been writing this mail, I pay attention to that,
see my mails, resp. I didn't check the gdm.conf and gnome-applications.
I'll check gdm.conf right now.

I can't say if the gdm.conf is fine, because I don't know how it has to
be, but there is one.
