I also do videos, especially 2D animations, but maybe sometime I will add sound to 3D animations or run some scientific applications, or entertainment like Google Earth, but never games and if a scientific application won't be fine with a slow 3D support it doesn't matter. I need 3D, but I don't think I need extreme high speed 3D. If the vertical refresh rate for a NVidia with 64 Studio won't be fine, like it has been with my AGP-NVidia on the old board, it doesn't matter, than I will use 64 Studio only as a DAW and will do graphics with Suse. I don't understand why I can change the settings for Suse and not for 64 Studio. Does Suse's Sax fetch the frequency more intelligent than Debian's xorg does? But also standard VESA settings won't work with 64 Studio, my cards and my monitor. Anyway, I will look for NVidia chip set carts and later will asked if someone know, if 3D is fine with 64 Studio, the trouble with the vertical refresh rate shall not matter.
