I have upgraded from Mint 5 to 64 Studio 3.0 beta. I have 3.0-beta3 repository enabled, but the only option Synaptic provides for jackd is 0.109.2-1ubuntu1. So, what should I do to get Jack >= 0.116 (without having to compile it)? Tapani P.S. Here's my earlier message, which only went to Ralf but not to the list, I had wrong sender address: Ralf Mardorf wrote: > You can compile Jack yourself to get it. No, I won't compile Jack, because I am trying to maintain a HowTo for upgrading from Mint(/Hardy) to 64 Studio and I'm just trying to figure out an easy way to convert Mint(/Hardy) to a stable DAW. >> Can't you reinstall the version that was fine? >> >> You can force downgrading by: Synaptic > Package > Force Version ... Yep, I know how to remove what I have installed, that's not really what I was asking for. > I wonder that you upgraded to jackdmp, because jack 0.109 was fine for > you. I run jackdmap because it as installed by default and because > this seems to solve troubles I've got when using any version of jackd. I upgraded because you told 0.109 is a "disaster" and thus obviously not the best solution for everybody. By asking "what to do" I meant whether there is an alternative provided somewhere in 64 Studio repos. Sorry if i was not clear enough. Well, jackdmp seems to be such, works here at least, but I have not tested it much yet. Will the final 3.0 release have jack 0.109 too? And is it really a "disaster"?
