Replace the 1N4148 diodes with schotky diodes to see if this makes a 
difference.  traditional Si-Diodes like the 1N4148 has a substantial 
voltage drop of around 0.6V

My USB Edirol UM-1SX is serving me quite well.  The company is owned by 
Roland, and obviously drew some of the experiance from the stable.  I 
made quite a few MIDI recordings (with no apparent jitter), and I also 
use it as the link to my digital mixer automation.
