Hi Fred,

Try sticking the smaller effects on busses as well.  Ladspa effects can 
be very hungry.

Another thing you should try is to change the mount options of your hard 
drives.  In /etc/fstab  change the option to noatime.  This will stop 
the file system to continuously record the access times of the files, 
leaving it free to do more real work.  Since doing this I seldom have 
sampler failing on me because of disk access problems.

Upgrading memory to 2 of even 4GB comes highly recomended - my jump from 
1 to 2 smoothed out my system's performance considerably,
