Indeed; so the procedure I have described would benefit from recording the next hop chosen in the rump reassembly buffer. (Another obvious hack would be to send the initial fragment to both/ all next hops; unfortunately the obvious optimization of only sending the actual data to one of them and just the first bytes with the addresses to other other ones is outlawed by 4944, page 12, penultimate paragraph.)
