The 'Show and Tell' is exactly what I had in mind for the SRCLE
meetings. It turned more into a social gathering more like your second
idea. I would love to have a more presentation friendly environment
for the gathering. That is hard to locate in combination with Internet
access. David said something that I hadn't really realized at the last
meeting. With the growth of the Internet a LUG is not as necessary as
it once was. Its quite easy for many to try Linux on their own and
have access to help they need with their favorite search engine. LUGs
seem to be migrating to a more social thing.

IRC is nice but I honestly haven't used it since my warez days using
windows 98. If there is a formal time to gather and chat I will try
and make it but off hand I am not that enthusiastic about it. However
I will definitely try and make a meeting if you find a location for
the weekend of the 12th. The SRCLE meeting is the following weekend.

Hey Roger,

These are great ideas. If you want to use IRC... I've been idling in
#909linux for, oh about 2 years now. I don't think a single person has
ever joined since at least 2004. ( and I put the server up when the
domain was regged... ) :)

You know, I kind of liked the way the guys in Murietta met up. They
just meet at a coffee house that has free wi-fi, and it's very
bring-yourself only kind of thing. Kind of a social gathering, but we
all had a great conversation. I think we should at least get together
and tell war-stories... or examine the whole M$ thing. Show & Tell
would be cool too. Last week in Murrieta, I guess I informally showed
making VOIP calls on the Nokia 770 handheld, I could bring that if
anyone up here wanted to play with it.

I had a mental note to stop by the Fox coffee house on Barton, or else
find one in Grant Terrace that had wi-fi and see if they had 2 large-ish
tables where people could gather on a Sunday evening. Anyone know of
another place we could gather a group of 5 or more and use free
wireless? :)

What about next Sunday, the 12th? 6-ish pm?
