Hi all,

Not slackware but actually fedora core... but has anyone had issues
installing a vanilla kernel with a distro that seems to REQUIRE an
initrd?

Perhaps this issue is singular to Fedora Core, but I could not seem to
get a vanilla kernel sans initrd to install. I assume this is due to the
Fedora boot scripts. There's a lengthy Fedora kernel installation doc I
was working with, but it doesn't address how to install a plain vanilla
kernel.

Just curious if anyone had run into this. I'm so used to installing
vanilla kernels in the standard way (make; make modules_install; cp
bzImage....) but making an initrd is something I don't really enjoy
having to do (although I understand there are utilities to make it
somewhat simplistic).
