Technically, module-assistant is so much more than just adding/removing. :)
It preps your build environment, fetches and installs needed compilers, tools, etc... it fetches the latest source of the various modules, (madwifi, nvidia-kernel, etc...), builds them and makes the appropriate .deb package for that module. If you use module-assistant, you can stick with the mainline debian kernels, so you don't have to build the whole kernel to add something... and just m-a to add that hardware support (assuming that the debian packages contain the module designed to work with it) :) Roger E.
