Apparently, Vista allows you to use the high speed random access found in
memory drives to cache your page file. At first I wondered how this could be
faster than a high speed HDD, but apparently the random reads particular to
a paging file make it more efficient to have direct block access such as
found in solid state devices.

So, it sounds like this "works" to the extent that your page file
doesn't exceed your USB drive

I like the idea of encrypting your page file, though.  :)
