Is it really that hard to set it up the "old fashioned way?"  I've
 only done it a couple of times, and that was at least 2 years ago, but
 I don't remember it being *that* difficult or time-consuming.
 However, I have a terrible memory and YMMV.

Simply put, no it's not -- install everything manually and a few
tweaks here and there to get it going.

The "problem" is that this is only a temporary solution until I move
everything to LAMP.  I have to have Windows b/c of the PHP code's
(ahem) dependence on MS SQL.  That will soon change to MySQL, and then
we'll port that over to some sort of Linux (probably CentOS, since we
have a few other boxes like that in our network).
