sorry. that wasn't very clear. by python tools, i mean like the init scripts on my linux machine. it's their colorized and redrawing output that causes trouble. i fixed that a few times, but there were other tools that caused trouble and i had to refix things with each update. it degenerated into wack-a-mole programming. totally ot. what's with python and the spinning cursor? woz called. he wants his APPLE ][ hack back. ☺ - erik
