When the Inferno operating system (a descendent of Plan 9) was developed, one of its primary intended applications was video conferencing/streaming. With concern about the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and people trying to keep at a distance from one another, there has been a huge surge in intrest in (and application of) video conferencing.
What facilities do Plan 9/Inferno offer for making conference calls, 1-to-1 video calls, and/or video conferences? Assuming 9P2000 is used (with a sufficiently large msize to provide adequate throughput), what would the file system API look like? Could it be done in a peer-to-peer fashion, without having to send all of the video through a central server? It's an interesting question to ponder... and an apropos time to be pondering it. ------------------------------------------ 9fans: 9fans Permalink: https://9fans.topicbox.com/groups/9fans/Tc9faca0fa43a4fab-M580913eeaf5344b96b81931d Delivery options: https://9fans.topicbox.com/groups/9fans/subscription
