1a) pro golang: since golang can be bootstrapped using kencc, which is highly portable, i think golang is highly portable. b) since it's so easy to bootstrap golang from golang, and so easy to bootstrap golang from C, and it's not common to bootstrap C from golang, C can never be as portable as golang. 2a) against golang: since golang can only be bootstrapped with bash, it's very portable only on macbooks. b) C is a bit simpler, so C compilers will be less complicated than all the stuff required for running golang. @ron, since this is the 9fans mailinglist and not the GNU mailinglist i think it would be more on-topic to use plan9 dd and not GNU dd and compare to a plan9 target of u-root version of dd. (By now we should all be aware that RMS/Ulrich Drepper, freedesktop/IBM, Microsoft/LINUX are slightly bloated, and not a good benchmark...) i hope this proof meets your quality standards, it's a toolkit but it should suit everybody here. ------------------------------------------ 9fans: 9fans Permalink: https://9fans.topicbox.com/groups/9fans/Tf84d656c78bbda91-M388a1fc110c4c8a1a6ab0bff Delivery options: https://9fans.topicbox.com/groups/9fans/subscription
