It's late, and my brain is off. I guess this means 'X' is the answer. I suppose I've been looking for an excuse to use it.

But now that I've had to seriously use sam's command language, I'm ready to ditch sed.

P.S. And this is a pity. I first used sam on one of the AT&T DMDish terminals (hanging off a 3Bxxxx) in the late 80s. I was too caught up in emacs at the time to appreciate what I was bitching at. Live and learn I suppose.
