I understand your offense, but look at it this way: only a handful of people can claim to have seen architeuthis, but we tend to believe that architeuthis exists. The rest of us we have to rely on anecdote. That reliance on anecdote makes it mythical, but we still believe it exists. Kind of like Natalie Portman's bedroom....
