there's a handful of projects trying to port the Debian bits to various BSDs. they all face the same argument early on: port glibc or use the existing system one? the project almost always forks at that point; the larger population goes with the system libc. thankfully, none of the bsd w/ glibc projects have gotten more than fringe traction.
