I don't like gcc either, but having to write every app by hand it's not
an option.
But it's the WAY. I started with APE ports, now I'm trying to go native.
As a non-+programmer (biologist, mainly), my learning curve is too steep
compared to human life's length, I agree.
But:
Once you have gcc, would anyone other bother to rewrite your ported
program natively??
