Sorry about the lack of info. I was just having so many problems and
looking for a simple soultion (guess I should say my lack of
knowledge is part of the prob).

It's a 1.6 Ghz P4 Processor.

It has a VIA Venom V4DP motherboard. Here is link:
http://www.machspeed.com/ve_v4dp.htm

It's running a clean install of WIN XP pro.

Also, I read the numbers wrong---It's a 230Watt POWER SUPPLY.

I've tried multiple keyboards but need to use a usb one for it to
work...

I couldn't load a 24 bit Creative Sound Blaster audio card --when
loading the software I kept getting the error that it didn't see the
card. So I'm just using onboard sound...

And the modem dials up, "talks," but doesn't connect. I tried a
different modem, both relatively new, and differnt ISP's (AT&T and
Netscape) but no luck---THOUGH NOW AOL seems to be working.... We'll
see though.

My question is-----Can I get away with using a 230Watt PS?

Because on another system (ASUS MB, AMD 1.9 XP Processor, WIN 2000
Pro...) I was trying a 240Watt PS and the HDD made an odd noise that
went away when I installed a 350Watt Power Supply

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!
