BMP is an uncompressed (raw) format, so image quality loss is not the issue. The problems with conversion to JPG are a problem with the settings you're using for conversion. Try a lower compression ratio, (set the quality to over 75%) when using JPG. If you can't get suitable settings, try Irfanview for Free from, http://www.irfanview.com
