I would think that USB cable would be better than data transfer software. I have experience of the latter that was restricted in capacity - purchased from Dell and it wasnt sufficient for what I needed to transfer, but no one told me. You're right, you cannot transfer software. I'm sure there must be someone here with USB transferring data experience.
