Start>Settings>Control Panel>Modems>General>Properties>General, is the Maximum
speed set to the
highest value available or has it been changed to 9600? If it is 9600, select
the highes speed
available which may be 115200.

Hi guys,
I'm running Windows 98SE. It recently switched to Safe Mode and since
then has slowed from a 56000bps connect to 9600. I get much older when
trying to use the thing now! Also, if I try to switch from OE to IE it
disconnects.
A tech looked at it and checked the system out thoroughly. Modem is
ok, as is everything else including settings.
Any advice?
