That doesnt answer my question.  How many restore points are there before one 
gets to the limit.

No I'm not, I am talking about being notified in Win XP Pro SP 2 that there 
were no more restore points possible, indicating that I had exhausted the 
cache.  At the time I deleted al the restore points and started again with no 
ill effect but I thought it worth mentioning for the benefit of others here and 
my enlightenment.  Can you explain the extent of the Restore point cache please?
