There are two ways that people make it difficult for those who might have
answers to their problems to respond. One is to not give enough information.
They say things like, "My computer crashes all the time. How come.' No
description of the condidtions, which OS, the details about what they were
doing when it crashed, etc.

Another way is when people either do not quote at all or put their comments
at the top of their message and force anyone who wants to help to wade
through line after line of quotes and other junk. They assume that everyone
reading the list can memorize all the message and knows exactly which
problem is being discussed in the message. Why should the would be
benefactor have to work so hard just to figure out what the problem is.

Here's an simple way to reply that will save people work.

REPLY:

This is in regurad to my problem with my printer not printing. [then state
here what you have done so far to solve the problem. Quote when people have
suggested and whether you followed their advice and how that turned out.

Trouble shooting can be extremely difficult EVEN with information. It is
nearly impossible without and the helper should not have to search an email
for clues because you were too lazy to restate the problem or to edit the
quotes so that helpers can more easily provide solutions.
