I don't think that the text showing what to press to get into the setup
is dependant on whether jumpers are set right. What IS a better indicator
Is whether a dvice shows up in setup.

You would get that message for any condition other than the drive
being set up properly.

If it is new it should still be OK, but you have to get it set up right in
order
to install the OS and software. The arbitor of drive jumper settings is the
informtion ON the drive. It should tell you which settings to use for each
condition. One condition is Primary Master, another is Primary Slave.
You normally need a master before you install a slave. But be certain
that you are using the Primary chaing. Usually the optical drives, CDs
and DVD drives are on the Secondary channel.
When you have chosen a jumper setting that seems to make sense, boot
to CMOS setup and check that the drive shows up. Then put the OS
disk in the drive and reboot. If the drive is set up propersly the OS disk
should see the drive and offer setup options. It it doesn't see the drive
obviously there is still a problem. Other things to check are whether the
mother board end of the cable is properly seated. Or whether the cable
is plugged in without bendin pins on the sockets, it should plug in strait.
