I think the best thing you can do is: Wipe the machine and purchase and install Windows XP Home Upgrade. Don't reinstall Windows ME, just do a clean install from the CD, inserting your Windows ME qualifying disc when prompted. If you have a pre-load of Windows ME, make sure you have an installation CD before upgrading. If you have 256 MB of RAM you will have enough to run Windows XP.
