A design problem in Windows ME causes excessive resources use. Disabling System Restore should improve this by about 6-8%.
The design limitations for resource use in Windows 9x causes poor performance to resource needy applications and can cause the system to run out of 'resources', even with large amounts of RAM. 'Resources' do not increase after a certain amount of RAM, no matter how much is installed. This magic number is somewhere between 128 and 160 MB.
