Windows XP Home and Pro are the SAME operating system.
They use the same kernel, memory management, sub systems, registry,
etc. They are nearly completely identical. From a gneral OS point of
view and application point of view there's no difference. It's all in
the extra stuff.

The only differences is that some features in Home are turned off or
crippled, and one or two features are stipped from Home.

For example, the Security tab in an item's properties aren't visible
in Home, but if you boot into Safe Mode you can access it.

Most MMC Management Consoles exist in Home, but they give a 'disabled'
error instead of running like they would in Pro.

Home machines could also theoretically join a domain but they are
crippled from doing so, but most of the required networking components
are present.
