I checked the BIOS.  It says it is ACPI version 7.40.  Toshiba has a 
download on their site to upgrade to version 8.00.  I will try that.  
If that doesn't work I will have to assume that either the drive is 
defective or just is not compatible with the Lapttop and look for a 
smaller drive.  Just seems odd that it won't work.  It is only a 40 
Gigabyte drive.  I just installed 2 80 Gigabyte drives in 2 older 
desktops and had no problem whatsoever.
