Nonsense, my system stays up at least a month using hibernation and not being rebooted and my computer is very reliable.
Standby is much more troublesome because every device attached to the system must correctly respond to the 'wakeup' commands from the PC. If one device doesn't, the system won't come out of standby. First, your system may have hibernation set to too low a level. You can adjust this setting from the Control Panel in Power Options. Second, often with notebooks there are two fixes for Hibernation problems: 1) a BIOS update or 2) a driver update. Check with you notebook vendor for BIOS and driver updates. Start updating with the video driver, then network, then sound, then do the BIOS update, then modem driver and work your way through the remainder if these don't work.
