if you have 5 good free applications we would all be

7,000?

Ya Rupert:

I have 3500 on one double sided DVD not counting the others. I
only mentioned the 7000 in case someone is looking for a
particular application they should know I can probably come up
with it. I would be more inclined to mention an application as it
relates to a current topic.

The one that interest me the most at this time is "SyncToy".
SyncToy is a recent addition by Microsoft to it's group of free
"Power Toys for Windows", downloadable from the Microsoft
Web site.

SyncToy is a simple very intuitive application that let's you make
a clone or identical twin of any folder on your PC including
"My Documents". The Twin can be created anywhere on your
PC including an external hard drive or CD drive. Once the pairs
are created, they can be made to synchronize every time the
application is run. Several pairs can be synchronized
simultaneously with one click.

I store all my data in about a dozen sub-folders in the
My Favorites folder and I have created a twin My Favorites
folder on an external hard drive. Keeping the two synchronized
is only two click away, once to run the program and once to
click "run". SyncToy does not have its own scheduler but it
can be scheduled automatically with the Windows Task Scheduler.
Seems to me that keeping a duplicate of all our data on an
external drive is a good idea. I would still master my pictures on
a CD though. Bye

Emile
