Have you tried and tested all 7,000 of them and can you recommend them with confidence. Hi Janet: Of course I have not tested 7000 applications and I certainly would not recommend anything that I had not used and found to be trouble free. These 7000 applications have been tried and published by the major magazines such as PC World but they make sure to include their own disclaimers. You need to remember that Spybot and ZoneAlarm have all come to us via the same route. The reputation of the source needs to be considered. SyncToy is promoted by Microsoft but even they include their disclaimer. People on controlled expenses can find suitable applications to match most expensive retail brands but they still need to try them out. The most important thing is to read the eula otherwise there might be surprises. Very often you find that these free applications are designed to do something you can already do just as easy with XP. Anyway, If I ever recommend an application that I have tried It would only be in the context of promoting group discussion.
