Coincidentally, I d/l this program and ran it on one of my pc's yesterday and at the same time ran XP standard defrag program on this pc and both took around the same time to defrag. Using the diskeeper Lite it started well and then stuck at 25% so I suspected background programs were interfering with progress so tried running it in safe mode but it would not run in safe mode. So I tried again but using End-It-All to close all running programs. All went well but it still seemed to stick at 25% but eventually finished the task ok. What pleased me most with the standard defrag prog on this pc was that I did not have to close any programs while it was running unlike it's predecessor with W98. I will give Diskeeper Lite a chance at this pc next week, both looked similar but there appeared to be more options with DL.
Rupert O^O--------------- Rupert's Reply To ---------------O^O Well the free Lite version is restricted in its features such as the auto-defrag facility but it seems to work OK for me. Every time you open DiskeeperLite it will prompt you to upgrade to the paid version but just close that window and carry on as normal. When it detects that the drive needs defragmenting it will prompt you to run the program manually and is faster than the XP Home version that it actually overrides. HTH Rick Avast ye land lubbers!
