Hi Tom

The only *certain* way to keep spyware/ adware/ malware off your system is not
to go surfing the web
"the off button". But we all have a touch of the Beechboys in us <grin>, so
one free and easy way
to reduce the odds of infection dramatically is to use Mozilla Firefox as your
browser instead of
IE. A new and improved version of Firefox is due to be released shortly I
think.

There was a very good and detailed post on this list by Charles James on 05 Dec
05, which was a
reply to Steven so I don't really understand why Steven asks virtually the same
question again?
Charles mentioned using Mozilla Thunderbird instead of OE but I think he didn't
mention using
Firefox instead of IE.

One IE common offender found by Spybot/ Adaware are tracking cookies, you can
of course block all
cookies in IE

Tools>Internet Options>Privacy and either increase your security level by using
the sliding control
or click on Advanced and select Override Automatic Cookie handling and set both
settings to block
all cookies. However, there will be some sites you can not visit or will have
problems with because
you have chosen to block all cookies

HTH
