That was a great post Paris! All that information is certainly news to me.
I have had 4 Epson printers and have no real complaints at all. Depending on
use levels, they do need head cleaning from time to time and if you use genuine
Epson cartridges this can be very expensive indeed because one clean is never
sufficient, they often need between 5 and sometimes 10 cleaning cycles before
full colour is restored. Since switching to compatible cartridges, which are a
fraction of the cost of the so called "genuine" aka "rip-off" cartridges,
cleaning is relatively inexpensive.
The printers themselves are now relatively inexpensive, especially the multi
function print/ scan/ photocopy models. The only thing I don't like about them
are the small individual colour cartridges, which empty fairly quickly and do
not really save you any money at all, it is probably more expensive.
I have only ever had one HP printer and the replacement cartridges for that
were
very expensive indeed, much more than Epson.
I have d/l the program you mentioned just in case I ever have need of it.
Thanks for providing all that information.

I have already provided the address of the Yahoo Group dedicated to
groaning, inter alia, about Epson printers - membership guarantees about
40 Emails a day LOL. There is, I suspect, a Yahoo Group covering all
major makes of printers - I presume that they also have a fair share of
moaners and groaners - plus some people that suggest practical
solutions. Im sure anyone that can use there Browser can find the Group
appropriate to their needs ... snip
