And if you don't know how to configure a firewall nothing will be able to 
'dial out'. [I assume you are not talking about dial up.] A router's NAT 
will block just about everything from getting on your 'puter that should 
NOT. That leaves visiting bad sites, viruses and attachements. So I'd say, 
keep your AV program up to date, don't open attachments and be careful of 
what sites you go to. And people say that XP's firewall is pretty good. It 
hasn't blocked anything for me that I know of.
