No fans or any noises really.

I decided to try an experiment.  I removed the LCD and hard drive 
and installed them in a 460cdt that I bought some time ago for 
parts.  In this one the hard drive does function.  If I look very 
closely I do see it boot, but, it is extremely dark.  You could 
certainly not see it well enough for normal use.  I hooked up a 
regular monitor.  It does flash, but, that is about it.  At this 
point I don't know if it is the lcd, Inverter or something else.  
These units to not have a brightness control on the bezel, so, if 
there is a way to brighten it, I don't know what it is.
 

I must say that with the 480 I got nothing, just a blank screen even 
with an external monitor.  No fan or any other noice and you could 
not even hear the hard drive boot.  It was like it stopped even 
though there were function lights.

Sorry about deleting previous comments, but, I belong to quite a few 
groups on various subjects and most request that previous comments 
are deleted as after a while they get very lengthy if all comments 
remain.  I will try to remember not to do that here.
