Hi John,

You didn't mention your OS and also what program are you using to burn. If
you have WinXP you can use Windows Media Player 10 for both data and music.
There are also some freeware programs to be had for burning.

I know for me it took a while to catch on to the burning process, but if you
use CD-R's they are very cheap, so if you mess it up, it really doesn't
matter. Just play with it until you are comfortable with the burning
process. I have heard that CD-RW discs can be difficult at times.

I just bought my first cd-r or cd rewritable actually. I tried
recording on some cd-r's this morning. The first one worked fine,
although it was a live album and has spaces between songs and the
original did not. The next two crashed after recording almost the
whole cd it crashed saying bad or incompatible media. Of course being
a cdr-r it cannot be used again. Is this a common problem and what
could be the cause? Is it a bad cd-r or a bad source disk? Which
types of disks are better cd-r or cd-rewritable? Are they very
sensitive to scuffs and scratches on older cd's to be recorded? or the
same on destination disks? Any help appreciated.

John
