I'm still stuck.  I double checked, as far as I know all the programs 
that have been registered with Windows still are.

Been trying various things, including an uninstall of Eudora and a 
reinstall on to the My Book drive.  I thought maybe having everything 
on one drive would make a difference, it doesn't seem to.  I went 
into Zone Alarm and made sure "allow program interaction" was 
checked, it hadn't been.  That hasn't made a difference either.

I tried reregistering, that didn't work. I can't afford right now to 
get the new version of Eudora, maybe that will do it.  Thanks for the 
Thunderbird suggestion, but I like Eudora and want to keep it.  It's 
been a good program for me until this.

The only other thing I can think of that I haven't tried yet is to 
allow it server options in Zone Alarm, or uninstall and reinstall on 
C drive and backup every night to the My Book.
